95-year-old athlete Konstantinos Chatziemmanouil stars at World Masters Athletics

Konstantinos Chatziemmanouil has added five gold medals to his impressive career, with the 95-year-old also setting some new Games records at the World Masters Athletics Championships.
The 95-year-old athlete is defying the normal limitations for a person his age, excelling in numerous events at the Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, as he also set Games records in the 400m and 800m events.
His stellar performance caps off a great season wherein he also earned five gold medals at the European Masters Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, where he set three new world records in the 60m, 200m and 400m events.
The Kos champion athlete triumphed in multiple events at the World Masters Athletics Championships, including the long jump and 400m events, competing in both in the span of just one hour as he increased his tally to five gold medals at the competition.
The 95-year-old athlete was recognised with a standing ovation from the spectators while receiving his medal for the 400m, which saw him set a new record in the M95 age category,
During the presentation of his medals, Chatziemmanouil was given the microphone as he sang the Greek national anthem as a sign of honour and pride in his country.
