Nasdaq-listed Greek tanker owner Performance Shipping has entered into a time charter contract with ST Shipping & Transport for an LR2 aframax oil product tanker.
Performance Shipping said that the vessel in question was the 2010-built, 105,304 dwt
P. Aliki and that the deal was made via its wholly-owned subsidiary.
The vessel joined the company’s fleet in late August 2022. At the time of the buy from ST Shipping, the vessel was renamed P. Aliki from its previous name – Alpine Amalia.
The gross charter rate will be based on a fixed floor rate of $45,000 per day for a period of a minimum of four months to a maximum of five and a half months at the option of the charterer, plus a 50-50 profit share provision above the floor rate.
The charter started on June 26 and is expected to generate a minimum of $5.5 million to a maximum of $7.5 million in gross revenue depending on the duration of the charter, excluding any additional income that may be earned from the profit share provision.
“This contract commenced immediately after the expiration of the previous charter agreement with Trafigura Maritime Logistics at a gross daily charter rate of $45,000,” Andreas Michalopoulos, Performance Shipping’s CEO, said.
He added that the new contract boosted the company’s fleet-wide revenue backlog to around $54 million, based on the minimum duration of each charter.
“This contract reflects our solid relationships with reputable and creditworthy counterparties such as ST Shipping & Transport which currently employs three of our tankers,” Michalopoulos concluded.
