Submissions open for Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne Book Prize 2024

The Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne will be holding its Book Prize 2024, with authors across Australia all given the chance to submit their work and win prizes.

Authors can submit books published in 2022 and 2023, written in Greek or English, bilingual or translations, for the opportunity to win a prize.

For bilingual publications, it is up to the author to choose the language of the publication that they wish to submit.

The number of prizes is limited to ten, one in each category and each language, provided there is a book worthy of a prize. The categories include: Poetry, Prose, Theatrical play, History/Study and Book for children.

Any doubt over what category a book is in, the judges will decide.

There is also a chance that no prize is given for a particular category if none of the books are deemed the anticipated standard.

While some authors may not be chosen to win a prize, if their book is also deemed as equally notable as one of the winners, it will receive an honourable mention.

The judging process is split in two stages, with each judge selecting one book in each category and language. A report will be written by each and then in the second stage, all judges will meet to select one book.

This book ought to be voted as the best in its category and language by at least two judges.

With only books submitted by their authors or translators accepted, they are requested to use the appropriate application form posted on the GACL website and submit three copies of each book before Friday, July 12.

The award ceremony will be held at the end of the year with the GACL hoping to have the judging panel report by Friday November 1.
