Greek long jumper Miltiadis “Miltos” Tentoglou has been named the top male athlete in Balkan athletics for 2024, securing yet another significant accolade in his career. The 26-year-old, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, was honored in absentia, with his award collected by national track and field coach and jumps coordinator Giorgos Pomaski at the ceremony held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Tentoglou’s accolade highlights a celebrated year for Balkan athletics, where Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh was also recognized as the top female athlete. Mahuchikh, who recently broke the world high jump record, was joined by high jumper Angelina Topic, named the top rising female star, and Serbian middle-distance runner Aldin Katovic, recognized as the leading emerging male athlete.
