To mark the occasion, the Ministry of Culture is once again organizing events across Greece, giving citizens and visitors the chance to enjoy the magical spectacle of the full moon.
Specifically, for the August full moon, free admission will be offered at 114 archaeological sites, historical landmarks, museums, and monuments across the country, welcoming the public under the moonlight. Events will be held at 71 archaeological sites and museums, while approximately 44 will remain open to the public with free entrance.
August Full Moon 2025: The Acropolis Museum open until midnight
It’s worth noting that on Saturday, August 9, 2025, the Acropolis Museum will extend its opening hours and will remain open continuously from 9:00 a.m. to midnight, allowing visitors to explore its exhibition spaces and enjoy the view of the Sacred Rock bathed in the moonlight of the Attic night sky.
Admission to the Museum will be with a regular general entry ticket, and the ticket counters and Museum Shops will close at 11:30 p.m.
As part of this year’s celebration, events will take place from August 8 to 13, including theatrical performances, musical and dance shows, stargazing, myth-telling sessions, and guided tours. These events are organized by the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage and the General Directorate for the Restoration of Museums and Technical Works, many of them in collaboration with local authorities and cultural associations.
You can find the full program of Full Moon events on the official website of the Ministry of Culture, which will be updated with any changes.
