Emirates and Real Madrid have announced a multi-year partnership under which Emirates becomes the Official Sponsor of the Spanish professional basketball team. The partnership takes effect immediately. Under the agreement, the Emirates “Fly Better” message will feature prominently on the team’s jerseys, extending its presence already seen on the men’s and women’s football teams’ kits. This new collaboration with Real Madrid’s basketball team marks Emirates’ debut in European basketball, as the airline expands its global sports presence, reinforcing its mission to bring fans closer to the game.
Real Madrid is the only European sports club to have won both the football and basketball European championships in the same season.
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates, stated:
“We are proud of this unique opportunity to become the Official Sponsor of Real Madrid’s basketball team, strengthening our long-standing partnership with Real Madrid CF while expanding our presence in the sport. We are also excited to bring the Emirates brand to European courts as the jersey sponsor of a team with an unparalleled history and a rich tradition of excellence.
This partnership strengthens our connection with Real Madrid’s international fan base and opens new avenues to grow passion and excitement for basketball across our global network. We look forward to activating this collaboration with Real Madrid Basketball and connecting even more closely with fans worldwide.”

The Emirates “Fly Better” logo will appear on all official team kits, training wear, and staff apparel. The partnership also provides Emirates with significant exposure at the Movistar Arena Madrid, including visibility on electronic scoreboards and digital surfaces inside the arena; hospitality and ticketing opportunities; rights on social media and marketing to support global campaigns; as well as advertising rights. Emirates will also have a presence at major competitions such as Spain’s Liga ACB, the EuroLeague, and the Copa del Rey.
The airline will have access to Real Madrid’s basketball facilities at the Ciudad Real Madrid training center, enabling exclusive behind-the-scenes visits for VIP guests, player meet-and-greets, and specialized youth programs involving some of the sport’s greatest legends.
Long-standing Commitment to Basketball
From local clubs and international leagues to the NBA, Emirates has supported basketball for more than three decades. In 2024, Emirates and the NBA announced a landmark multi-year global partnership, making the airline the Official Global Airline Partner of the NBA and the first naming sponsor of the new Emirates NBA Cup. Emirates also became the first sponsor to feature on NBA referees’ jerseys.
The airline also supports the UAE Basketball Federation and the Dubai International Basketball Championship, a partnership spanning nearly 30 years. In 2014, Emirates sponsored the FIBA World Championship in the UAE, while teams backed by Emirates have won seven titles at the International Basketball Championship. Emirates is also the official sponsor of Beirut Basketball Club.
In Spain, Emirates continues to proudly sponsor Real Madrid, as well as the annual ATP tennis tournaments Mutua Madrid Open and Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell.
Emirates currently operates 28 weekly flights to Spain, including 14 to Madrid and 14 to Barcelona, of which 7 weekly flights operate from Dubai to Mexico City via Barcelona.
Emirates in Greece
Emirates has been present in the Greek market since 1996. Over the past 28 years, more than 4.5 million passengers in Greece have experienced Emirates’ signature services. The first airline to connect Athens directly with Dubai, Emirates has, since March 2017, also offered the only year-round, daily direct flight connecting Greece with the United States. Passengers flying with Emirates can enjoy over 6,500 channels of movies and programs through ice, the airline’s award-winning inflight entertainment system, along with exceptional hospitality and personalized service from Emirates’ international, multicultural crew.
From its humble beginnings in 1985 with just two aircraft, Emirates has grown into the world’s largest international airline.
