American Airlines: Charlotte-Athens service to start earlier in 2026

American Airlines’ seasonal transatlantic flights between Charlotte and Athens are set to begin about fifteen days earlier than originally planned, according to new changes to the carrier’s summer 2026 schedule.
Specifically, American will begin flights from Charlotte to Athens on May 21, 2026, instead of June 4, which was originally set as the launch date for the flights. The service will operate with a daily flight and a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
Subsequently, the Chicago (O’Hare)-Athens service is expected to begin on May 7, 2026, instead of May 6, with a daily flight and a Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
The start of the New York (JFK) – Athens connection has been postponed further, starting on May 21st, compared to May 7th as originally planned, with one daily flight and a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
American Airlines recently announced the start of a new route to Athens for the summer of 2026 from Dallas. These flights will begin on May 21st, 2026, and will be operated once daily with a Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
