The Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) has arrested two Greek nationals and two Bulgarians in connection with the huge quantity of drugs found today, Saturday, in a container loaded onto a truck that left the Limassol port for Paphos.

The Drug Law Enforcement Unit is searching for other individuals as members of the syndicate. The container in question was under surveillance for several days, and according to our information, the entire operation was almost torpedoed by the customs officers’ strike. However, everything went smoothly, and the enormous quantity of drugs was found before it could disappear.

When asked by Philenews to comment on the YKAN’s great success, Minister of Justice and Public Order, Marios Hartsiotis, once again expressed his satisfaction with the work of the Unit and stressed that its coordinated operations will continue with undiminished intensity to find the death merchants.

It is noted that this year, the quantities of cannabis found are close to 800 kg, a record number. Specifically, so far, 775 kg of cannabis have been found, compared to 617 kg for all of 2024 and 544 kg in 2023. As for cocaine, this year, with the five kg found today in a container, the total has reached 47 kg, compared to 54 kg last year and 24.7 kg in 2023.
The increase in the quantities of drugs found by the competent Police Unit is attributed to the intensification of its efforts, targeted operations, and the correct analysis of information, and by extension, the organisation of operations to dismantle the syndicates.
