Nafplio is preparing to welcome a major sports event, with the Municipality of Nafplio announcing the “Nafplio Challenge 2025”, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 12. The event, which is being implemented in collaboration with the company whynot, is part of the Municipality’s strategy for the development of sports, the strengthening of volunteerism and the promotion of the city as a sports tourism destination.
This initiative is not limited only to the competitive part, but also has a broader target. As indicated by the organizers, the institution aims to stimulate the local economy in a period of low tourist traffic, offering a significant boost to hotels, catering and local businesses. At the same time, the action aspires to highlight volunteerism, encouraging the participation of citizens of all ages in an event that connects sports with culture and the extroversion of the city.
The competition program of the Nafplio Challenge 2025 as it has been formed to date, includes four different categories:
-Triathlon Standard, with 1,500 meters of swimming, 38 kilometers of cycling and 10 kilometers of running.
-Triathlon Sprint, with 750 meters of swimming, 24 kilometers of cycling and 5 kilometers of running.
-Adult Aquathlon, which combines 750 meters of swimming and 5 kilometers of running.
-Junior Aquathlon, especially for younger ages, with a 150-meter swim and a 1-kilometer run.
In all events, there will be categories by gender and age group, with separate awards, in order to strengthen the spirit of “fair competition” and to give space to as many athletes as possible to participate and distinguish themselves.
It is noted that the event will be held in accordance with the regulations of the World Triathlon and the Hellenic Triathlon Federation, ensuring a high level and competitive criteria that meet international standards. In this way, Nafplio aspires to gain a special place on the map of sports tourism, combining its historical identity with the dynamics of a modern sports destination.
