Thessaloniki cemented its position as a key destination for the Polish tourism market, welcoming more than 70 members of the Polish Chamber of Tourism as part of their Annual Conference held in the city from September 28 to October 2, 2025.
As part of the Conference, the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Travel & Tourism Agencies (FedHATTA) hosted a dinner for the Polish delegates, highlighting the city’s potential and the strategic contribution of Greek tourist agencies as a connecting link with the Polish market.
The Conference was organized by the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, in collaboration with the Polish National Tourist Office and the Polish Chamber of Tourism.
The presence of dozens of top executives of the Polish tourism industry, representatives of leading travel agencies, airlines and Polish media, in Thessaloniki, underlines the strategic nature of the cooperation between the two countries in the tourism sector, with the highlight being the new direct connection of LOT Polish Airlines between Thessaloniki – Warsaw throughout the year.
The contacts made by FedHATTA constituted another opportunity to strengthen the already existing ties of cooperation that have been cultivated for years, as well as to exchange views on the new prospects that are opening up for the strengthening of the tourist flow from Poland to Thessaloniki, Northern Greece and overall to our country – and vice versa.
The meeting highlighted the importance of direct air connections with Poland, as well as the possibilities offered for the emergence of Thessaloniki and our country as an attractive and quality destination for the Polish traveler. Particular emphasis was placed on the qualitative dimension of the Greek tourist product, on the forms of alternative tourism that can find suitable ground in Northern Greece, as well as on the strengthening of cooperative relations between professionals from the two countries.
The evening took place in a particularly warm atmosphere, proving once again that hospitality is a strong advantage of Greece and a means of developing long-term partnerships. The conversations and contacts that took place create well-founded expectations for the further development and strengthening of the presence of Polish tourists in Greece, which in recent years has been steadily increasing.
The president of FedHATTA, Mr. Lysandros Tsilidis, stated:
“It is a great pleasure to see regions of Greece that have the potential for organized tourism taking decisive steps towards extroversion. When we bring tourism professionals from abroad, they in turn become our best ambassadors. What they will see and experience here, they will transfer to their market, so that Thessaloniki and Northern Greece in general can gain the place they deserve on the travel map.
In this effort, Greek travel agencies are the key link, as they will create organized packages, build partnerships and bring travelers. The combination of extroversion and professionalism is also key for the Polish market. Both sides are concerned that the mission will repeat visits to other areas of Greece, also through our cooperation with ECTAA”.
The conference program included:
- Event at the Thessaloniki City Hall with a welcome by the Mayor and President of the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, Mr. Stelios Angeloudis.
- Presentations on thematic tourism by the General Manager of the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, Dr. Kyriaki Oudadzis and destination city break by the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Mr. Vasilis Gakis.
- B2B meetings with tour operators and hoteliers of the city.
- Official Gala Dinner at the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki, with a guided tour of the “Olympic Games” exhibition and a musical program.
