International Short Film Festival of Cyprus closes today with awards ceremony

The 15th International Short Film Festival of Cyprus concludes on Friday, 17 October, with a closing and awards ceremony attended by Deputy Culture Minister Dr Vasiliki Kassianidou.
The final night’s screenings start at 8pm at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol, featuring the last line-up of the competition section. The festival then moves outdoors behind the Rialto Theatre at the SEK car park, where the awards ceremony and closing party will take place.
Audiences have warmly embraced this year’s festival edition, its parallel events and special screenings, organisers said. Following the awards ceremony, DJ harama will perform at the traditional after-party.
The festival features two competition sections: International and National. Cypriot short films compete in both sections and contend for a nomination at the European Film Awards in the short film category.
International Competition awards:
- First prize for best short film
- Second prize for best short film
- Best director award
- Best documentary award
- Best Eastern Mediterranean film award
- Up to three honorary distinctions
National Competition awards:
- First prize for best Cypriot short film
- Second prize for best Cypriot short film
- Best director award “Dinos Katsouridis”
- Best cinematography award
- Best performance award
- Up to three honorary distinctions
All films are suitable only for viewers aged 18 and over. Films are screened in their original language with Greek and English subtitles.
Tickets cost €5 for a day pass and €25 for a festival pass. Students receive free admission upon presentation of their student ID, as do holders of a disability card.
