Customs officers at Paphos airport caught a passenger carrying large quantities of tobacco products without proper health warnings just before his departure to the United Kingdom on 21 November 2025.
Officers seized 135 cartons of 200 cigarettes, four packs of 20 cigarettes and 500 grammes of rolling tobacco from the passenger’s luggage.
The products lacked the required health warnings in Greek and Turkish, as well as security features and traceability codes, indicating they were untaxed, according to the Customs Department.
The passenger was arrested for offences committed in the act and taken into custody to appear today before Paphos District Court, where authorities will request four days’ remand.
