Australia’s housing affordability crisis is getting worse, as revealed in a recent economic update. Mark Bouris AM, the well-known Greek-Australian entrepreneur and Yellow Brick Road Executive Chairman, spoke to over 120 Sydney business leaders at an exclusive Business Sydney event on 27 November 2025. He emphasized that having a secure home has become the new measure of economic success. With Sydney’s median house price reaching $1.7 million, buying a home is now out of reach for many under 40. Rising rents and stagnant wages make the situation even more urgent.
The event was hosted by Sydney City Lexus & Toyota Managing Director John Roca at the company’s Waterloo showroom, drawing notable guests from business, politics, and the community. After being introduced by Business Sydney’s Executive Director, Paul Nicolaou, Bouris had a lively and wide-ranging discussion with Besa Deda, Chief Economist at William Buck.
