As we enter the Christmas, the Greek Welfare Centre (GWC) of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia in Victoria is preparing once again to organise its annual Fundraiser as it continues its aim of supporting families facing financial difficulties.
The Greek Welfare Centre calls for a Christmas of reflection, love and solidarity with our fellow man.
They identify that the help of the Greeks of Melbourne is very important who have supported the Fundraiser for the past 27 years by giving food, and providing help from every corner of the world to carry out this human effort.
The Fundraiser has been embraced by expatriates ever since its first year, offering with great willingness food from their deficit or surplus, as well as toys for young children.
The existence of our fellow human beings living under difficult circumstances is an undeniable fact, as the staff of the Greek Welfare Centre, as well as the volunteers, assure.
The collections will take place during the month of December.
Specifically, the Fundraiser must be completed by Monday, 22 December. Therefore, this is the last day that the public will be able to deliver food to local churches.
The Greek Welfare Centre expressed its thanks, once again, to all the contributors to the initiative for their positive response and contribution.
“We hope that with our efforts,” they stated, “we can ease the pain of families in need, to the extent possible, so that their holidays will be better. Happy New Year, with health, joy and happiness in all homes. May the coming of the God-μan enlighten the souls and behaviours of people.”
