South Melbourne chasing more glory at OFC Pro League

Fresh off its Australian Championship victory, South Melbourne is now set to take on a new challenge as they prepare for the maiden edition of the OFC Professional League.
Hellas celebrated an historic win over Marconi to claim the Australian Championship trophy in its maiden edition, and they are now striving to build on that as they go against seven other Oceania-based clubs in the new competition starting in January.
In addition to South Melbourne (the only Australian representative), the OFC Pro League will feature clubs from New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tahiti and Vanuatu.
Hellas co-President Bill Papastergiadis said their focus has shifted to the new competition.
“Preparation is already starting,” Papastergiadis told Neos Kosmos.
“Our first match will be held at Eden Park in Auckland on January 18, while we will welcome our opponents at home on February 21.”
The competition kicks off on 17 January as the eight teams face off in the circuit series that will see the teams play at various Pacific locations.
It will conclude on 24 May 2026 with the Grand Final.
South Melbourne will open its campaign on 18 January against Tahiti United at Eden Park on Sunday January 18.
