Canterbury Bankstown FC put together a lineup filled with Greek Australian talent in a pre-season friendly against Bankstown United, providing opportunities for various youngsters as they continue preparations for the 2026 season.
The Berries featured five players of Greek heritage in their 2-0 win over Bankstown United held on 5 December, a feat that Club President Stan Seraskeris acknowledged has not occurred in a long time.

“As a club, we have had Greek ties since the 1960s and it was fantastic to see those boys playing first grade and representing the Berries as we prepare to celebrate our 140-year anniversary in 2026,” said Seraskeries in a press release.
Among the players who featured were John Fotopoulos and his 17-year-old brother Costa (who started in goals for his first grade debut), William Kounnas, Peter Kostropoulos and James Kartakis.
The side continues to build as they eye a strong campaign in the coming NPL State League One season.
