A transformative force in society – The rise of AI

I recently read with great interest and pleasure, the article by Iakovos Garivaldis in Neos Kosmos regarding the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) on society. I believe Garivaldis is largely on the right track; however, I would like to emphasise a crucial point: AI is poised to influence our lives much sooner than the public realizes. Within the next twelve months, AI technologies will significantly impact humanity and disrupt job markets that were once considered secure.
During a recent trip to Greece, I discovered that the nation has launched its own AI initiatives aimed at supporting businesses and encouraging society to embrace this emerging technology. Although these initiatives are still in their early stages, the enthusiasm among the Greek population is palpable.
The younger generation is particularly quick to integrate AI into their daily lives, and businesses are eager to leverage its potential for growth and innovation.
In 2023 and 2024, during my time in Greece, I conducted extensive research on AI technologies, culminating in my book titled ‘The Rise of AI’.
