AEGEAN Airlines has inaugurated a new direct flight route connecting Larnaca with Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino International Airport.
The service, celebrated at Larnaca International Airport “Glafcos Clerides” with Hermes Airports, operates three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays throughout summer 2025, with plans to maintain service during winter months.
Initial flights have shown satisfactory passenger numbers, according to airline representatives.
Marina Spyridaki, Corporate Affairs Director at AEGEAN, said the new route strengthens Cyprus’s connectivity while supporting tourism and economic development.
“We aim to continue supporting Cyprus’s tourism and economic growth by constantly enhancing the island’s connectivity throughout the year, both through new direct connections and via our network from Athens and Thessaloniki hubs,” Spyridaki said.
Maria Kouroupi, Aviation Development, Marketing and Communications Director at Hermes Airports, noted the route adds to direct flight options to popular destinations.
“In cooperation with reliable partners like AEGEAN, we continue to increase Cyprus’s connectivity options while targeting new opportunities with high tourism and business interest,” Kouroupi said.
For 2025, AEGEAN plans a 22% capacity increase compared to the previous year, offering 1.4 million seats to and from Cyprus. The airline currently operates up to seven daily flights to Athens and eleven weekly flights to Thessaloniki from Larnaca.
With the restart of the Larnaca-Tel Aviv route offering up to two daily direct flights and the addition of the new Rome service, Cyprus gains direct connections to two international destinations.
The new Larnaca-Rome flight schedule operates with departures from Larnaca at 16:05 (local time) arriving in Rome at 18:35, and return flights departing Rome at 19:30 arriving in Larnaca at 23:40.
