American Airlines will launch a new Athens–Dallas route in the summer of 2026, with flights beginning on May 21, 2026.
The service to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) will become American’s fifth direct connection from Athens, making the airline the one offering the most nonstop routes between Greece and the U.S. compared to any other carrier.
This year, American successfully launched a new route between Athens (ATH) and Charlotte (CLT). That route will return next year, along with the existing services to Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK), and Philadelphia (PHL).
“Passenger demand for flights to cities with rich cultural heritage continues to grow. We see more and more customers flocking to destinations where they can travel through time, exploring history and culture in ways that go beyond traditional experiences,” said José A. Freig, Vice President – International and Inflight Dining Operations.
“With this new route, our customers in Athens will also gain access to our largest hub in the United States, Dallas/Fort Worth, offering connections to over 225 destinations across the U.S. and beyond.”

“The addition of this new summer connection between Athens and Dallas/Fort Worth, American’s largest hub in the U.S., marks another excellent development for Athens’ connectivity with the American market,” stated Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communications & Marketing at Athens International Airport.
“Alongside American’s highly successful summer routes from Chicago, New York/JFK, Philadelphia, and recently Charlotte, this new route from Dallas—a strategic hub in the heart of Texas with a strong business, cultural, and sports profile—offers passengers even more exciting options with the airline’s top-tier service.
We deeply appreciate American Airlines’ vote of confidence in the Athens market and warmly wish them safe and full flights, reaffirming our continued commitment to a strong partnership aimed at sustained growth and success in Athens.”
As American Airlines continues to expand its transatlantic network, the carrier will also launch a new connection to Prague, Czech Republic (PRG) and add new routes to popular destinations such as Budapest (BUD), Milan (MXP), and Zurich (ZRH).
During the summer 2026 season, American will serve a record 11 European destinations directly from DFW.
Tickets for these new summer routes will go on sale starting August 11.
As one of the world’s leading airlines, American Airlines operates thousands of daily flights to over 350 destinations across more than 60 countries. The airline is a founding member of the oneworld alliance, whose members serve more than 900 destinations worldwide.
