Passenger traffic at Athens International Airport (AIA) soared in August 2024, showing a notable 10.5 per cent increase compared to August 2023, according to data from the airport.
AIA reported a total of 3.64 million passengers in August, with domestic traffic rising by 6.8 per cent and international traffic up by 12.1 per cent year-on-year.
For the first eight months of 2024, passenger numbers reached 21.26 million, reflecting a 13.9 per cent overall growth compared to the same period in 2023.
Domestic traffic increased by 7.8 per cent, while international travel surged by 16.6 per cent, AMNA reported.
Flight operations at AIA also saw significant growth. A total of 180,594 flights were recorded from January to August 2024, marking an 11.8 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. Domestic flights rose by 5.2 per cent, while international flights jumped by 17.0 per cent.
