The fire is burning uncontrollably in Penteli, where an evacuation order was issued a short while ago.
The authorities are proceeding with a precautionary evacuation of the Amalia Fleming Hospital, as the situation is becoming increasingly difficult, especially on the Penteli front.
According to a volunteer’s testimony from the area, the situation is very difficult, as the fire has reached Penteli Avenue and is burning houses.
Risk of further fire spread
The fire has reached the heart of Nea Penteli, and according to the deputy mayor of the area, the fire has entered the Vrilissou stream and is spreading rapidly.
The concern is great as the stream flows into the Patima Chalandriou and Vrilissia.

Appeal for aircraft
The mayor of Penteli, Natasa Kosmopoulou, appealed for aircraft on Perikleous Street in Nea Penteli, as the fire is raging in a difficult spot.
“It will burn houses in Nea Penteli. Only aerial means can be used, nothing else, and unfortunately, we only have one helicopter. It has already caught the first house and is going for the second,” she told SKAI.
