The World Confederation of Thessalians “Asklepios” has successfully completed its initiative to supply traditional tsarouchia, to its member Thessalian associations around the world.
The program, titled “Strengthening Member Associations with Traditional Tsarouchia,” aims to support dance groups, preserve cultural heritage, and pass on Thessalian and Greek traditions to younger generations by providing authentic elements of traditional Greek dress.
The handover ceremony took place in Bielefeld as part of the 15th Festival of Thessalians of Europe, held in a warm and emotional atmosphere. Representatives of local associations, members of the Confederation, and dozens of attendees celebrated together dancing, singing, and honouring Greek tradition.
A total of 37 pairs of high-quality, traditionally crafted tsarouchia were delivered to the clubs.

Confederation President Diamantis Gkikas emphasised the cultural importance of the initiative saying that “This is not simply material support. It is an act of respect and love for our roots. Through music, dance, and tradition, we keep the Thessalian soul alive, wherever we are.”
General Secretary Fotini Michou highlighted the overwhelming response from the member clubs.

“Their joy gives us strength to continue. These tsarouchia symbolise the continuity of tradition and the living presence of Thessalian culture in the diaspora—especially through the new generation, which is our shared future,” Michou said.

Representatives of the associations expressed deep appreciation to the Confederation for its consistent presence, genuine interest, and long-standing support for all cultural activities. Many noted that such initiatives help keep their dance groups active and motivated, strengthening the cultural identity of young diaspora Greeks.
