Digital promotion of Pieria as a tourist destination

A successful collaboration that strengthened Pieria’s extroversion on the global tourism map was completed between December 2024 and March 2025. The Pieria Tourism Development and Promotion Organization (P.O.T.A.P.) and Marketing Greece joined forces in a strategic digital promotion campaign, aiming to highlight the comparative advantages of the destination.
With the slogan “Travel Reimagined Pieria–Olympus Riviera”, the campaign was hosted on the digital channels of Discovergreece.com, promoting the identity of Pieria in a modern and dynamic way. The campaign was based on the creation of authentic content, based on the experiences that the place offers throughout the year, connecting tourism with authenticity, sustainability, and respect for the place and the local community.
Focusing on the experiential element
The promotion strategy focused on thematic axes such as:
- The natural landscape and outdoor activities
- Traditional villages and cultural heritage,
- Gastronomy and local production,
- Religious destinations and pilgrimages,
- Tasting experiences and contact with local life.
The campaign material utilized cinematic images and highly aesthetic photographs, highlighting Olympus and the Pierian Mountains, beaches, hiking trails, sports activities, and local traditions. The content was distributed to the general public through all popular social networks, with particular success on the TikTok platform, where the greatest public response was recorded, according to Marketing Greece statistics.
International recognition for an authentic destination
The campaign contributed substantially to the broader international awareness of the tourism market for the advantages of Pieria. The prefecture is now promoted with a coherent brand, the “Olympus Riviera”, which harmoniously unites the sea with the mountain, culture with nature, and authenticity with modern hospitality.
The Deputy Governor of Pieria, Ms. Sofia Mavridou, stated on the occasion of the completion of the campaign:
“Another initiative with a positive sign for the strengthening of Pierian tourism was crowned with absolute success. The advantages we offer to each visitor throughout the year are now communicated digitally through the channels of Discovergreece.com, so that they become widely known in the international tourism environment. Our collaboration with Marketing Greece strengthens the “Olympus Riviera” brand and establishes us as a viable and sustainable destination.”
