Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo – one of the most popular ballers in the world – is the fifth highest-paid athlete in the world, according to a list of the world’s highest-paid athletes presented by Forbes.
Analysing the income of all the world’s top athletes between May 1 2023 and May 1 2024, Forbes has produced a list of the top 50 paid athletes, on which Giannis Antetokounmpo sits in 5th position. In terms of total earnings, the ‘Greek Freak’ took home a whopping $111 million in this time period.
In top position is Christiano Ronaldo, having earned $260 million, followed by golfer John Rahm with $218 million and Lionel Messi with $135 million. Lebron James sits just above Giannis Antetokounmpo in fourth place, having earned $128 million.
The publication writes that”Antetokounmpo is recovering from a calf injury that ended a tumultuous season for the Milwaukee Bucks star, with a midseason coaching change and him looking at then being unable to help his team exit the first round of the playoffs. Off the field, his stardom continues to rise. Antetokounmpo opened a production company in January, added a partnership with Pepsi’s Starry soft drink in February, and will launch his sixth signature sneaker with Nike later this year.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo Documentary and Rebound Record
In February, a new documentary was released on Amazon Prime featuring the improbable story of the Milwaukee Bucks superstar from poverty in Athens to the heights of the NBA.
The one-hour, 48-minute documentary called Giannis: The Marvelous Journey was produced by Improbable Media, which Antetokounmpo and ESPN basketball analyst Jay Williams co-founded. It debuted on February 19th.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Antetokounmpo announced the launch of Improbable Media and its first feature-length production. “It’s the true story about me and my family’s journey and I can’t wait to share it with you,” the post read.
In December last year, Giannis Antetokounmpo once again proved his worth as one of the greatest players of the franchise when he grabbed seventeen rebounds in the game against the Houston Rockets. With his fourteenth board, he passed the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for first place on the Bucks’ all-time rebound list.
The Greek Freak has more than 7,100 rebounds in his career in the regular season and is now the leader in points, rebounds, and assists in franchise history, becoming only the fourth player to do it in NBA history. Previously, this honor only belonged to LeBron James (Cavaliers), Kevin Garnett (Timberwolves), and Michael Jordan (Bulls).
Antetokounmpo finished the match with twenty-six points and seventeen rebounds.
The Bucks won their thirteenth straight home game and improved to 14-1 at home while snapping the Rockets’ five-game winning streak. Houston (13-10) dropped to 2-9 on the road.
