GOCMV Schools commemorate Apostles Peter and Paul with interactive educational activities

The South Morang and Alphington school campuses of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria (GOCMV) Schools celebrated the commemoration of the Apostles Peter and Paul on June 29 with an innovative and interdisciplinary educational activity.
Designed by theological educator Manto Hatziemmanouil, the event aimed to deepen students’ understanding of these pivotal figures in Christian history with a hands-on approach that helped bring historical events to life, making the learning process both enjoyable and informative.

Students engaged in a variety of playful and educational activities that followed Paul, the Apostle to the Nations, on his three major journeys across the Mediterranean where Apostles Peter and Paul spread Christianity.
They created a detailed map of his travels, learning about the diverse places, cultures, and traditions he encountered and explored the ascetic life of Apostle Paul through the art of hagiography, which provided a deeper understanding of his spiritual legacy.
A key component of the program was the lesson on emotional education, inspired by the “Hymn of Love” from 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, authored by Apostle Paul.
This lesson encouraged students to reflect on important emotional themes such as repentance, forgiveness, acceptance, and love.
