The Greek-Australian Society (GAS) has commenced 2025 on a high note as they hosted a networking event to kick off its fifth year.
The organisation held their event at The Clock Hotel in Sydney on Thursday evening (27 February), bringing together members and guests from across the country for a light-hearted night of socialising.
Guests mingled and enjoyed the light refreshments on offer during the evening with the event bringing together various generations of Greek Australians.
GAS President George Mpliokas thanked the crowd for their attendance, praising them and the wider membership base (which has grown to roughly 560) for their continued support.

He expressed immense excitement for the year to come with numerous initiatives planned to pack out their fifth year as a community organisation.
Mpliokas expressed his pleasure with the event, which has become a staple of their calendar.
“I am really pleased with how the event went. It is awesome to have a venue that sells out. Members want to come and meet other members, and it is lovely to facilitate people who want to engage in our Greek Australian community,” he told Neos Kosmos.
“This is a tried and tested model for us now. We are really proud of what we have been able to create and we are really grateful that more and more people are adopting this as well.”

The GAS President shared his joy in the organisation helping people connect with others of the Greek community, particularly those who are doing so for the first time.
“Once we get to know one another, we know how we can work together and when we can work together, then we can work to shape the future of our community,” he said.

Mpliokas was recently appointed President of the Society, which he admitted is “very humbling” for him.
“I am a co-founder and I am very proud, and GAS is my baby that I share with the other co-founders but now with all our members as well.”
“I want to do everything I can to make GAS a force of good in our community.”
