Hundreds of thousands of Greeks rallied outside parliament in Athens today to demand justice over a train crash in 2023 that killed 57 people in the country’s worst railway disaster.
The protesters held banners reading: “We won’t forget” , ‘It wasn’t human error’ and “I have no oxygen,” echoing a woman’s last words in a call to emergency services published by local media last week.
30 out of the 57 victims died in a massive blaze caused by flammable toxic materials stored on the train.
Protests were held in more than a hundred cities across Greece, at Nicosia’s central Eleftheria square and 25 in Europe.
