University students, teachers and school pupils held demonstrations in the Greek capital and other cities on Friday to demand justice for the 57 people who lost their lives in the Tempi train crash in 2023.
Despite low temperatures, protesters gathered in the capital Athens at noon, holding white balloons and banners reading: “We do not forget, we do not forgive”, “No tolerance for cover-ups” and “I have no oxygen” – a slogan derived from a phrase uttered by one of the surviving victims of the crash.
