There have been reports of multiple gunshots at a McCracken Street home in Essendon this past week, believed to be the home of former luxury car dealer Andrew Triantafyllos.
On Sunday afternoon, just after 5pm, it was reported that a dark-coloured Holden Commodore drove past the home of the former director of VIP Executive Car Rentals, with up to seven gunshots fired.
This was the second incident in three days, as police responded to reports of gunshots at the same property on the early hours of Friday September 13, at 4am.
It is believed a dark-coloured utility drove past the premises and fired several shots at the home before driving away.
Victoria Police told Neos Kosmos that Financial crime squad detectives are investigating both firearms incidents.
It is understood one of the rounds on Friday morning impacted the side gate of the residence.
“There were people inside the property at the time, however no one was injured,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said in a statement sent to Neos Kosmos.
“Investigators are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.”
It’s been said police have warned Triantafyllos to leave the property over concerns for his safety.
The Greek Australian was declared bankrupt in 2018 after repeatedly refusing to pay dozens of his creditors, including nearly $6 million to the Australian Tax Office.
The Melburnian was also fined more than $4000 for failing to give evidence in court as part of a Consumer Affairs investigation into luxury car hire services.
Sunday’s incident is at least the fifth targeted attack against Triantafyllos’ home.
Earlier this year, two cars were rammed into the front of the same house and then firebombed.
It was believed he and his partner were at home during those incidents.
Anyone who witnessed the incidents this past week, has dashcam/CCTV footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
