The Hellenic RSL Melbourne participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Australian Prisoners of War Memorial in Ballarat on Sunday.
Built 21 years ago, it remains the only prisoner of war memorial in Australia, honoring the sacrifices of those who endured captivity.
The solemn service saw the attendance of numerous VIPs, including 55 members of the Hellenic RSL.
The event served as a powerful reminder of the 36,000 Australian prisoners captured in conflicts across history, including 27 Greek-Australians who served in the Australian Forces.
Among them, nine Greek-Australian prisoners tragically lost their lives in captivity.
Following the ceremony, Hellenic RSL members gathered for a picnic lunch in the picturesque Ballarat gardens, reflecting on the legacy of those who served.
