Larnaca launches first film festival with open-air screenings across city

The first edition of the Larnaca Film Festival opens on Thursday, bringing four days of open-air screenings to different venues across the city until 31 August.
Organised by the Larnaca Film Club with support from the Municipality of Larnaca, the Deputy Ministry of Culture, the Larnaka2030 initiative and the Department of Antiquities, the festival offers free entry to the public.
All screenings start at 8:30 p.m. and are open to audiences aged 16 and over. Short discussions will follow each screening.
Screenings and venues
- 28 August – Artists’ Park: C’è ancora domani (There’s Still Tomorrow), directed by Paola Cortellesi. The Italian box-office hit set in the 1940s portrays a mother of three facing hardship and abuse. (118 minutes, Italian with Greek subtitles).
- 29 August – Municipal Garden: En Fanfare (My Brother’s Orchestra), directed by Emmanuel Courcol. A French box-office success about estranged brothers reunited through music. (103 minutes, French with Greek subtitles).
- 30 August – Courtyard of Larnaca Archaeological Museum: Skammata, a documentary by Danae Stylianou combining archival footage and testimony to explore Cypriot archaeology before and after 1974. Screening followed by discussion with the director. (87 minutes, Greek, English and French, subtitled).
- 31 August – Zouhouri Square: Short films by Cypriot directors, including Amalgamation, 74, Anna, Underground, The Hunt, and The Woman with the Parrots. (91 minutes total, Greek with English subtitles).
Festival organisers said the event aims to bring cinema to the city’s public spaces, highlighting both international productions and local filmmakers.
