Authorities arrested three individuals during yesterday’s Grand Carnival Parade in Limassol, after being called to the scene of a serious altercation between a number of people.
A Greek Cypriot man was arrested as he was obstructing police from approaching the area of the brawl, with the individual in question, according to Philenews sources, blocking their way to those involved.
He was body searched and officers found him in possession of two knives. He was subsequently booked at the Limassol Precinct.
In a separate case, police approached two men who were acting suspiciously amongst revellers. The 20 and 21 year old were found in possession of drug substances and were arrested on the spot.
Authorities continued increased foot and car patrols around central areas of Limassol through the night yesterday, as thousands had flocked to the coastal city for the festivities.
