Greek Indigenous lawyer Matthew Karakoulakis, named the Most Influential Leading Lawyer in Australia for 2023 by the Australasian Law Awards, is now producing a podcast, Rolling Through Negotiations Podcast, aimed at culturally sensitive strategies around the negotiating table. “This is your go-to source for insightful discussions that illuminate the world of negotiations in a way that’s both informative and engaging,” Karakoulakis said to Neos Kosmos.
Karakoulakis was featured in Neos Kosmos on October 14, where he pointed to similarities in Greek and Aboriginal cultures, such as, “Respect for elders, as well as the significance of extended families, villages, and clans, is common between both cultures.”
“Greek and Aboriginal families are similar in ways; for example, so many aunties – Greek and Aboriginal and even as an adult and a lawyer, I must listen to them just like when I was a kid.”
Karakoulakis holds fast to much of the wisdom of his yiayia, Anastasia Karakoulakis,”who is 96!” he says. It is one way he sustains his own cultural awareness and add to the combined millennia of Aboriginal and Hellenic cultures.
Rolling Through Negotiations Podcast is part of that listening and respect, with each guest imparting knowledge on life and negotiations.
“Each episode is like a masterclass, we guide people through the intricate dance of bargaining with finesse and wisdom.”
In blend of experience and charisma, Karakoulakis presents guests with stories, and tips “that will empower people to navigate any negotiation” .
Karakoulakis says Rolling Through Negotiations is a “collective resource for anyone looking to master the art of negotiation.”
“Our podcast stands as a beacon for those eager to command the boardroom, close deals confidently, navigate conflicts easily and function within better family or community environments.”
He calls it an “invaluable tool”. He says it’s “more than just a series of conversations—it’s a repository of real-world tactics and strategies from top negotiators across various industries.”
“Our episodes dissect complex negotiation concepts and transform them into actionable insights you can apply immediately in a way that is easy to understand for everyone.
“Already some listeners have described the podcast as a turning point in their professional lives and personal success stories that inspire and motivate others,” Karakoulakis tells Neos Kosmos.
The lawyer aims to create what he says is a “vibrant hub of interaction for a diverse audience including Greek and Aboriginal community members.”
“We have had First Nations legal eagles, Indigenous former UN representatives and all in a way towards seeking to sharpen our listeners’ negotiation prowess.”
Rolling Through Negotiations wants to engage with “a wide spectrum of listeners, such as Greek, Indigenous, and other, business leaders, families, community leaders, legal professionals and government representatives “and the amazing kinds of people looking to enhance their daily communication and negotiation skills.”
Karakoulakis has made his mark by advocating and promoting his involvement in Indigenous and Greek cultures and sees the podcast as one of the ways he can provide a forum for discussion and learning.
Rolling Through Negotiations Podcast can be heard across all podcast providers.
