Melbourne community mourns the loss of beloved poet and broadcaster John Liaskos

The Greek-Australian community in Melbourne is mourning the loss of John Liaskos, a highly respected poet and broadcaster, who passed away on Thursday after a long battle with illness.
Liaskos, a well-known figure in the Melbourne Greek community, was widely admired for his work as both a poet and a radio presenter for 3XY Radio Hellas. His voice and literary talent touched many lives, and for years he contributed regularly to the Greek newspaper Neos Kosmos.
The announcement of his passing has caused widespread sorrow across the Greek diaspora in Australia.
In a statement, the Greek Writers’ Association of Australia (SEL.S.A.), of which Liaskos was a former president, expressed deep condolences:
“The poet and former president of SEL.S.A., Yiannis Liaskos, has left us. His passing has saddened members and friends of the association, and his memory will forever be in our hearts. The board of directors extends its heartfelt condolences to his family. May his journey to the Light be peaceful, dear John, we will always remember you with love and respect.”
