A special day of events will be hosted by the AG Leventis Gallery on February 19 as part of its temporary exhibitions Kanthos: The Sharp Edges of History and Reflections.
With an exclusive performance by Eleni Mouzourou in collaboration with Natis (Hasan Aksaygin), featuring their work Distillation Conversations presented in the Reflections exhibition, the gallery invites the public to meet the contemporary artists of the exhibition.
A special guided tour will also be offered for the Kanthos: The Sharp Edges of History exhibition. The evening will also be enriched with live music by Charitini.
Eleni and Natis’ performance lecture will be held at 6.30pm and will explore how plants can become companions in exploring connections across land, language and belonging. Guided by the scent of jasmine, they will explore how their (post)memories, experiences and perspectives on homeland intertwine, converge, separate and reunite them.
The talk in English will be presented on February 19 and 21 and although it is free, reservations are required.
A guided tour of the Kanthos exhibition will begin at 6.30pm on the same day, taking a closer look at two of Kanthos’ most popular yet seemingly unrelated series – Women’s Bazaar and Hard Years. Their presentation puts forward fresh perspectives and narratives on Cyprus and its complex history. This tour will be conducted in Greek.
An hour later, gallery visitors will have a chance to meet the artists of the Reflections exhibition and get an exclusive tour. They will explore the artworks through the personal perspectives of the artists, engage in conversations about the stories, thoughts and emotions behind each creation. This special evening aims to bridge the gap between the audience and the world of contemporary art through dialogue and personal interaction.
Taking part in this event are the artists Eleni Mouzourou and Natis, Kika Ioannidou and Argyro Nicolaou, Marina Genantieva, Alev Adil, Eleni Odysseos, Petros Kourtellaris, Andreas Kalli, Andria Zachariou and Michalis Papamichael.
The evening will end with some live music at the Zest@Pinakothiki restaurant as it transforms into a boîte with songs of the past and the present. All while being surrounded by art.
