Greek-Australian business magnate Nikos Andrianakos, known for his success in the fuel industry, is expanding his real estate empire with the acquisition of a 50 per cent stake in Northland Shopping Centre in Melbourne. The deal, valued at $385 million, was secured through his company, Andrianakos Property Group.
Theo Andrianakos has been the Chief Executive Officer since 2017 and has led Nick’s group through all the major acquisitions.
Andrianakos, once hailed as Melbourne’s “fuel king” for his Milemaker petrol station empire, is now emerging as a major player in the commercial property sector. His latest acquisition strengthens his partnership with Vicinity Centres, which co-manages the shopping centres under his ownership.

This is not his first major investment in retail spaces. The Andrianakos Property Group also owns Broadmeadows Central and previously invested $138.2 million in the Colonnades Shopping Centre in Adelaide.
Born on 24 November 1943 in Pikerni, Tripoli, Arcadia, Andrianakos migrated to Australia at the age of 22 in search of a better future.
Arriving aboard the “Patris” in the mid-1960s, he built his fortune from the ground up, starting with a single petrol station. Over the years, he expanded his business into a network of 54 Milemaker stations, which he sold to Caltex in 2016 for $95 million, while retaining ownership of the land under a 30-year lease.
Reflecting on his journey, Andrianakos has often highlighted that success comes from passion, dedication, and strategic decision-making.
“I never feared hard work, and I always ensured that I was in a business that suited me before making any moves,” he once told Neos Kosmos.
Beyond business, Andrianakos is recognised for his philanthropic contributions. He has made substantial donations to the Greek Community of Melbourne, including funding for Alphington Grammar School and the construction of a multi-purpose hall that bears his name.
Though his business ventures keep him active in Australia, Andrianakos also spends significant time in Greece, where he has developed a luxury hotel in Nafplio.
Despite his vast success, he remains grounded, stating that his greatest pride is not his wealth but his family—his children and grandchildren—and his legacy of fairness and generosity in business.
