As the 2024 off season for the men’s NPL2 championship begins , the fourteen participating football clubs have already hit the ground running. Among these clubs, there are four with a blue and white background and origin, namely Kingston City, Brunswick City, Northcote City, and Bentleigh Greens.
These clubs, with their Greek interests, are gearing up to compete in the championship.
Kingston City had an impressive season last year, coming close to gaining promotion to the top division of the NPL. Led by their experienced coaching duo of Tagalakis and Tsolakis, the team not only secured important victories but also showcased young footballers of Greek origin, such as Skapetis, Mesourounis, and Apostolopoulos.
With their sights set on achieving the best possible results, the management has been focused on renewing contracts of their existing players.
In order to strengthen their team, they have brought on highly experienced former Melbourne Victory coach Steve Mautone as their technical director.
Similarly, Northcote City has also been extremely active, hiring Steve Babic to work alongside their coach from last season, Zeljko Kuzman.
The two have already begun renewing contracts for players who made an impact last season and are expected to help the club in the upcoming season.
In addition to contract renewals, the club has also made its first transfer for the new season by signing former Kingston City football player Matthew Loutrakis.
Meanwhile, Brunswick City, with the goal of improving on last year’s twelfth place finish, has also begun preparations by renewing contracts with key players.
On the other hand, Bentleigh Greens, known as the historic Pancyprios club, will compete in new territories this year after being relegated last season.
Despite the shock of relegation, their management has hired an extremely capable manager, David Roy Chik, with the goal of helping the team return to high ranks in Victorian football.
As we wish all the “Blue and White” clubs in the division good luck, we will continue to bring you the latest news during the off season, and we look forward to seeing these four clubs with Greek interests thrive in the upcoming NPL2 championship.
