The Cultural Resources Management and Development Organization (ODAP), Visa and Cardlink, a Worldline brand, announced the five-year extension of their cooperation with the aim of installing 22 new automatic ticketing machines at important archaeological sites and museums in the country by the end of 2025.
The initiative is based on the successful implementation of the measure in 2023 at the Acropolis, Ancient Olympia, Epidaurus and the Archaeological Museum of Delphi, where the machines already facilitated the issuance of more than 200,000 tickets. Their use reduced waiting times, improved the visitor experience and enhanced the security of transactions, in accordance with Visa standards.
By the end of 2024, new machines are planned to be installed in places such as Sounion, Olympia, the Ancient Agora of Athens, Mystras, Delos, Spinalonga, Ancient Corinth and Aigai.
The president of ODAP, Nikoletta Divari-Valakou, pointed out that the expansion of the cooperation is part of the Organization’s strategy for a more “accessible and modern cultural environment”, while emphasizing that the use of innovative solutions enhances accessibility and the promotion of cultural heritage.
Visa Country Manager in Greece, Nikos Petrakis, emphasized that the expansion of the program contributes both to improving the visitor experience and to the goals of the country’s digital transformation.
On the part of Cardlink, Worldline’s Country Head & Managing Director in Greece, Ioannis Kitixis, stated that the project combines domestic know-how with Worldline’s international experience, offering “technologically advanced solutions” that enhance tourism and digital modernization.
Upon completion of the program, Greece will have an extensive automatic ticketing network, enhancing the experience of millions of visitors to the country’s most important archaeological sites and museums.
