PAOK and Olympiacos are all set for an epic encounter that could provide a huge psychological boost for either side as they look to showcase their title credentials.
The Thessaloniki giants host the Piraeus outfit at “Toumba” Stadium on Monday morning (AEDT) in the premier fixture of the Greek Super League’s 11th round, with the “red-whites” striving for an important victory.
Olympiacos will be keen to secure maximum points and ascend past PAOK on the ladder as they aim to improve their league position (currently sitting in fourth).
The “black-whites”, meanwhile, will give their all to increase the distance between the two sides (currently just two points) with the hope that their midweek trip to face Manchester United will not have fatigued them too greatly.
League leaders Aris will have a watchful eye on the result of the contest, though their first priority will be winning their own clash against Panetolikos on Monday morning.
The “yellow-blacks” will have to give their all to down the Canaries, a team that has defeated AEK and drawn with Olympiacos this season.
AEK faces a high-flying Asteras Tripolis side at “Agia Sophia” ground in a bid to earn a victory and narrow the current three points gap between themselves and Aris.
The Arcadians come into the clash in good form, sitting in fifth after going unbeaten in their last six league games, which they hope will carry them towards another good result.
Panathinaikos is all set to challenge Lamia at the Olympic Stadium on Monday morning in what could prove to be an important milestone for them this campaign.
The Greens have yet to win two league games back-to-back, a fact that is irregular for a club their size, and this matchday represents as good a chance as ever to finally achieve that feat.
The Fthiotida side will give their all to stop that from happening and they will be hoping to catch their opponents at a weak point, given their midweek trip to Sweden will have likely depleted some of the squad’s energy.
Levadiakos is desperately seeking its maiden win as they prepare to battle Volos at home.
The “blue-greens” will have to muster all their strength to earn maximum points, an effort that would prove most beneficial as the Magnesia side currently stand as one of their relegation rivals.
Kallithea is similarly fighting for its first victory in their away trip to play OFI, though the Cretans will no doubt do everything they can to ensure a triumph over the last-placed side.
Panserraikos hosts Atromitos on Sunday morning in a well-balanced tenth vs ninth clash, with the Serres club particularly keen to leap over the Peristeriotes on the ladder.
