A Palestinian man attacked and wounded an Israeli tourist with a “sharp object” in Athens, a Greek police spokesperson said on Monday.
A police spokesperson told AFP that two men, one of them a Palestinian, had an altercation with six Israelis in Athens late on Friday night.
“The Palestinian man tore off a chain with the Star of David from one of the Israelis and slightly injured him with a sharp object on the forehead,” the spokesperson said.
The Israeli tourist did not need hospital treatment, the spokesperson added.
The perpetrator, in his 30s, was arrested and is to be arraigned on Tuesday.
He is being prosecuted for racially motivated assault, bodily harm, and illegal possession of a weapon.
The other suspect, whose nationality was not disclosed, has not yet been apprehended, according to Greek police.
No other details about the circumstances of the altercation have been provided by Greek authorities.
Many Israeli tourists visit Greece each year, particularly Athens.
