Tomorrow, the 21-year-old man who was arrested after appearing as a defense witness for the 25-year-old will also give his statement. He reportedly fell into contradictions during questioning and was subsequently arrested under a warrant for complicity in arson.
The 25-year-old, who denies the charges, was arrested last Wednesday afternoon after being spotted near the nursing home while a fire was ongoing in the Sychaina area of Patras. According to his lawyers, he was at the scene “as a volunteer to help extinguish the fire.”
In an official statement, his legal team argued that their client “was with three other individuals at the time — two of whom have already testified under oath to the authorities that he actively took part in efforts to fight the blaze, while the third is expected to testify before the investigating judge.”
