Source: ProtoThema English
In a social media post, the Minister of Migration and Asylum, Thanos Plevris, referred to a recent incident in Syntagma Square where a migrant attacked and verbally abused the Evzones in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. As he emphasized, the man ignored the principles and values of the country.
Mr. Plevris underlined that the man’s asylum application has already been terminated. Specifically, with an act dated August 14, 2025, a decision was issued for termination and return (deportation) due to tacit discontinuation and rejection of the application.
Ο Λάθρο βρίζει τον εύζωνα!
Δεν υπάρχει μεγαλύτερη ύβρη από το να καίει κανείς 🇬🇷 και να βρίζει αυτό που συμβολίζει ο εύζωνας!

At the same time, he announced that instructions were given for the evidence from the incident with the Evzones to be included in the relevant case file.
“Zero tolerance for such behavior,” concluded the minister.
According to reports, the man claimed he is Afghan, and sought asylum on the grounds that he was born in Iran and allegedly faced racist attacks there.
The same reports note that his asylum application was tacitly rejected because he failed to appear to support his claim.
