A new letter sent to officials in southwestern Poland claims to reveal the location of a legendary Nazi train believed to be loaded with gold and stolen treasures.
Dated April 23, the letter was submitted by an anonymous source who said he discovered hidden train cars inside a camouflaged tunnel near the city of Wałbrzych.
The sender described three World War II-era wagons sealed behind a sliding steel gate, estimating each to be about 12 meters long, 4 meters wide, and 4 meters high. The letter further claimed that the train contains precious metals, including gold.
The letter includes maps and coordinates
According to local authorities, the letter included four technical attachments: a map of the tunnel route, a table of coordinates, a terrain profile, and a statement from a wartime resident of Wałbrzych. The sender stated that complete location data would be shared with the city’s mayor or a deputy.

Kamila Świerczyńska, a spokesperson for Wałbrzych City Hall, confirmed receipt of the letter. “A certain man, whose details I cannot disclose, made a procedural report of the discovery, referred to by the press as the gold train,” she said.
“The letter looks factual and specific. The letter indicates four attachments, such as a tunnel with a train inside.”
The claim is supported by historical research
Anna Nowakowska, head of the Wałbrzych branch of the Provincial Office for the Protection of Monuments, said the sender studied a range of historical sources before reaching his conclusion.
“After analyzing various sources and documents, the man came to the conclusion that he had located a tunnel with the so-called golden train inside,” she said.
Legend of the train tied to World War II
The legend of the Nazi gold train dates back to the final months of World War II. As Soviet forces advanced through Eastern Europe, German officials in the then-German city of Breslau—now Wrocław—reportedly packed a train with looted valuables and attempted to move it west.
The train never reached its destination, sparking long-standing speculation that it was hidden underground near Wałbrzych.

Among the rumored treasures is the famed Amber Room, a chamber made entirely of amber panels looted by Nazi troops in 1941 from a palace near Leningrad. The room has been missing ever since.
Previous search efforts in 2015 yielded no results
In 2015, global attention returned to the tale when Piotr Koper and Andreas Richter, using ground-penetrating radar, claimed they had discovered the buried train.
Their announcement triggered a surge of treasure hunters from across the world. The train has yet to be found despite several large-scale searches.
City officials say the man behind the latest claims has not applied for a search permit. According to Polish media, authorities are reviewing the evidence and considering whether to launch an investigation.
