During the NATO Summit in Washington, at the first session of leaders, US President Joe Biden pointed to the importance of the Western Balkans to the Alliance’s security.
Touching on his comments, Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis, however, said progress, security, and prosperity was founded on respecting international law and international agreements, a reference to the Prespa Agreement. As he added, that deal enabled North Macedonia to join NATO.
Full implementation, the Greek PM stressed, is essential to the Alliance, Western Balkans, and international community.
Violating or selectively implementing the deal will undermine the credibility of all efforts to solve other open issues in the Western Balkans asnd will endanger regional stability and security, Mitsotakis also noted.
“Pacta sunt servanda,” he stressed, adding that everyone had to remember that.
