The group “FREE FREE PALESTINE” will hold a protest rally today, Sunday, 24/08/2025, in Larnaca.
According to the organizers’ representative, the event will begin at 7:00 PM on Sunday at Europe Square, on Athens Avenue in Larnaca.
After the gathering and speeches, participants will march along Athens Avenue, ending at Saint Lazarus Church.
The event is expected to last about an hour and a half.
Police officers will be on-site to ensure the peaceful conduct of the event, as well as to facilitate the public and manage traffic flow. All participants are asked to comply with police instructions.
It should be noted that, according to the Public Gatherings and Parades Law 151(I) of 2025, the organizer of a gathering or parade is responsible for its smooth and peaceful conduct. They must cooperate with the local administration authority within whose boundaries the event is held, as well as with the Police and the designated Liaison Officer, and must comply with their instructions.
Furthermore, this specific legislation gives the Police the authority to impose restrictions on a gathering or parade where deemed necessary, and also to disperse it, especially when it ceases to be peaceful, when it is held in violation of imposed restrictions, when there is a risk of personal injury or damage to public or private property, or in the case of a spontaneous or emergency gathering that does not comply with imposed restrictions.
Additionally, if there is a reasonable suspicion that a gathering or parade is about to become non-peaceful due to the actions of a person, or in the context of committing or potentially committing offenses by a person who is concealing, covering, or altering their features in a way that prevents them from being identified, the Police can order them to remove the item, product, or trick that makes them unidentifiable.
