Protesting Greek Farmers Threaten to Block Checkpoint on Bulgaria-Greece Border

Protesting Greek farmers have threatened to block one checkpoint on the Bulgarian-Greek border, said the Bulgarian border police. The joint border coordination centre of the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint  received a notification from the Greek border authorities that on Tuesday a protest of farmers was organized on Greek territory, and the protest will block the Ormenio border checkpoint, adjacent to the Bulgarian checkpoint Kapian Petko Voivoda.

An end time for the protest has not been specified.

On Tuesday, farmers from all over Greece took tractors to Athens, where they gathered for a national protest demanding financial support from the government amid increased costs for agricultural producers. Farmers and breeders from all over the country flocked to the Greek capital in their own vehicles and buses.
