‘Socca World Cup Oman 2024’ kicks off on November 29 in Muscat

Muscat – The Socca World Cup will feature 40 teams from around the globe competing for the prestigious championship title. The tournament will run until December 7, 2024.
Waleed Al Obaidani, President of the Middle East Socca Federation, highlighted that the event will be a major sporting spectacle, with participating teams divided into eight groups. Each group will consist of five teams battling it out for a chance to reach the final rounds.
Pointing out that Oman is hosting this global event for the first time, he explained that the Omani team has been carefully selected through local Socca tournaments held across various governorates.
A state-of-the-art stadium with international specifications has been constructed at the Oman Automobile Association to accommodate the tournament. The new facility is a testament to Oman’s commitment to delivering an exceptional sporting experience.
Julia Colter, representative of the International Socca Federation, praised the Sultanate’s organization of the event, noting the blend of innovation and professionalism. “Soca football has gained tremendous popularity worldwide, and this tournament will be a significant opportunity to elevate the game’s status at the international level,” she said, lauding the new stadium which is up to international standards, ensuring a top-tier experience for both players and spectators.
In addition to the exciting matches, various entertainment and cultural activities will be held daily from 4 pm to 11 pm during the tournament, offering something for all family members to enjoy.
The tournament’s draw has placed the Omani team in Group 1, alongside teams from the United States, Italy, Canada, and Qatar. Other groups include heavyweights such as Germany, Brazil, and Argentina, promising thrilling matches ahead. The full group breakdown is as follows:
• Group 1: Oman, USA, Italy, Canada, Qatar
• Group 2: Germany, Bulgaria, Georgia, Libya, Serbia
• Group 3: Greece, Belgium, Cyprus, Kuwait, Iraq
• Group 4: Brazil, Egypt, Ireland, Colombia, Iran
• Group 5: Poland, France, Turkey, Pakistan, Haiti
• Group 6: Mexico, Latvia, Albania, Peru, Australia
