The Tzanidakis Folklore Group visited St John’s College earlier today, captivating students with their performance of traditional Cretan and Greek dances.
The visit was part of the group’s Australian tour, commemorating the 158th anniversary of the Holocaust of the Arkadi Monastery, a historic event that holds deep significance in Greek history.
During the event, senior students had the opportunity to participate in a dance workshop led by the talented group members.
This interactive session not only enhanced students’ appreciation of Hellenic heritage but also provided them with a memorable, hands-on cultural experience.
For Year 10 students, the occasion also marked a joyful end to their formal classes, blending learning with celebration.
The college extended its gratitude to the Tzanidakis Folklore Group for sharing their dedication to Greek culture, and to Tony Tsourdalakis, former President of the Pancretan Association of Melbourne, for supporting the initiative.
