Sts Anargiri Greek Language Centre (SAGLC) is a beacon of education and culture, offering students the chance to immerse themselves in the richness of the Greek language while fostering a deep connection to their heritage. Located on a single, permanent campus, SAGLC provides families with flexibility and convenience. Classes are available on Wednesday or Friday evenings from 5.15pm to 8.15pm or on Saturday mornings from 9.45am to 12.45pm, making it easy for families to select a schedule that suits their routines.
A standout quality of SAGLC is its focus on cultivating a supportive and positive school environment. The school emphasizes on building a sense of community, guided by its “Blue Zone Positive Thinking Values”. These values promote collaboration, resilience, and an inclusive atmosphere that nurtures not only academic growth but also personal development.
The centre’s programs cater to learners of all ages, beginning with a kindergarten program recognised by the Victorian Education Department. This program is tailored for four-year-olds, with opportunities available for three-year-olds as well, providing an early introduction to Greek language and culture that lays a strong foundation for lifelong learning. For older students, SAGLC offers a Victorian Education Department-approved VCE program. This advanced program supports senior students in preparing for their final examinations, equipping them with essential language skills that open doors to academic and professional opportunities.
The school also offers innovative approaches to language learning. Its reading program focuses on small groups and individualised support, helping students of varying abilities to strengthen their literacy skills. Additionally, SAGLC’s “Dialogue Sessions” provide free, online practice in small groups, giving students the opportunity to enhance their language skills in a more interactive and personalized setting. To further support their studies, every Year 7 student receives a free Greek-English dictionary, a valuable resource for building vocabulary and confidence.
Beyond academics, SAGLC embraces a holistic approach to education, incorporating cultural elements into its programs. Students engage with Greek traditions through dance, song, and drama, creating a deeper and more personal connection to their heritage. These cultural activities enrich the curriculum and make learning an engaging and rewarding experience.
The school’s dedicated staff and well-developed curriculum ensure that students are not only well-supported but also inspired to achieve their best. Ongoing reporting keeps families informed about their child’s progress, reinforcing the partnership between home and school.
Accessibility is another key priority for SAGLC. With competitive fees and various discounts available, the school strives to make high-quality Greek language education affordable for families from all walks of life.
“At Sts Anargiri Greek Language Centre, we are more than just a school—we are a community. Our mission is to nurture a love for the Greek language and culture while empowering students to succeed academically and personally. We take pride in offering a supportive environment where language learning becomes a gateway to cultural discovery and lifelong skills,” says Principal Kosta Pataridis.
