STYX Film Encounters presents Wim Wenders’s masterpiece Wings of Desire

Nicosia’s new cinematic initiative STYX Film Encounters will host a screening of Wim Wenders’s Wings of Desire this Sunday, March 09.
Wenders’s classic, follows an angel who falls in love with a woman, after centuries of invisibly roaming the streets of Berlin, comforting the lives of distressed humans. He, then, wished to become mortal.
Arguably the director’s magnum opus, Wings of Desire continues to move and inspire audiences with its beauty and sincerity four decades on from its original release.
This screening is part of the Love Is Strange programme by STYX Film Encounters, which explores unconventional love stories in cinema.
Taking place every Sunday throughout March, the programme consists of films that explore expressions of love through unconventional pairings. Filmmakers have long used cinema to grapple with the conditions of romance and relationships as a whole, reflecting the unique circumstances and temperaments of their time. With this programme, STYX focuses on love stories that do not conform to typical molds – stories that challenge established norms, sometimes to dismantle them, and other times to rediscover their meaning and essence.
